20 Aug., 2010 -- What's that wet stuff???

Well, Iowa isn't the only place that gets rain. We got an inch, and that was a dumper bucketfull in about 10 minutes.
Since July 11, the fruit station north of town has gotten less than an inch. And we on the south side of town have gotten less than that.
I opened the door to get a photo, and got drenched. I didn't mind that at all.

He's adorable! Can I keep him? He's not as adorable as LAD's, but I'll bet he's fatter.

Gauge-guard. This dude wouldn't let me empty the rain gauge.

Oh, Fonda... you're gonna have fun with this stuff. Came out of the Darter attic in Atkins.
Larry and Juanita brought it up, drove through all that awful rain today, and some of it got wet, so it's de-humidifying, waiting for ya.

Hmm, I thought Bill got his prop fixed... He beat it out of town at noon, just ahead of the downpour.

City "cleared" the cedars out of the fence on RW 08 this morning.
Hmmm, I guess they quit before finishing. After all, there was a storm coming.

15 Aug., 2010 -- Mystery solved, maybe

Video shot with the Nikon D90 movie mode, then reduced to slow motion.

These are stills captured from this video.
The props are distorted, just the way they are on the Android
phone, shot as still images.
So, Grant was right! The phone is shooting very short clips
in movie mode and passing them off as still shots.
Wise old man, that Grant!

Fonda captured this one at Boone, Iowa with her Android phone.

14 Aug., 2010 -- The weekend

Bye, Mommie... see ya Monday!

More props. In the first picture, the Baron was moving toward the camera. In the second it was moving away. Still a puzzle.

Meeting & eating at Willow Springs Saturday afternoon.

10 Aug., 2010 -- that's a stranger

That is a raindrip, I think. Haven't seen one in awhile.
Wasn't much of a storm, hit & miss. Mostly miss.

This fellow decided to wait out the stormy afternoon, took a snooze under the air conditioner, then set out again for home in Alabama. That's an RV3, homebuilt.
(I'm still fascinated with the effects of the cell phone camera and the prop.)

9 Aug., 2010 -- EXCITING stuff

Well, the only other person who might be excited about these pictures would be Fonda.
Didja get it yet? (Her birthday present for July 15 just got here today, and I just put it in the mail to her this afternoon, so, noooo, she ain't got it yet... that's just a little tease).
For those of you who might be wondering about it (if there are any out there still wondering about it (me))... There is a tiny little gps antenna that slips onto the hotshoe of the D90 and records the lat lon coordinates. Now THAT's exciting, no??? So, big brother can geo-locate the photo to Google Maps and show where the photo was taken.
That storm that loomed east of town just couldn't quite get here. West Plains got over an inch, so Willow probably got some, too. Temp almost 100 today. Too hot to fly to OK, where it was above that.

In other exciting news, Columbia sent a medi-copter at 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning to pick up a patient from West Plains ambulance, and they needed jet fuel.
This is what it looked like at 3:30 a.m. at departure.

7 Aug., 2010 -- There they were

There they all were, having breakfast, Saturday morning at the feed trough.
The buck on the right is in velvet, hard to see the rack.
Passed over Willow Springs on my way to the bootheel to shoot breakfast (I mean corn).
Progress at TVB, Cabool Airport. Still closed.

5 Aug., 2010 -- Lightning McQueen in Mtn. Grove!

Dodge Challenger, 2008...
Number 304 in the production line, 1,800 miles on it.
Oooooh, shiny! I went around the block to get the pics.

2 August, 2010 -- if you were a bug

If you were a bug on the ramp, you would be a fried bug.
Maybe we could cook an egg to go with it!

1 Aug., 2010 -- It's summer.

Night blooming cereus got a very late start last night,
so it was still awake this morning. Usually the flowers start to open
before dark, but this time I got a chance to photograph it in the morning light.

Looks hot, feels hot, must be hot!

Saturday morning, John thrashed the bumpy air. Look what that did to his prop!
Sunday morning, John Zippered around, but I didn't get a picture of the RV.
