Sept. 12, 2015 -- On a peaceful evening

September 12... I knew this would be a good one. Drove to the 60 overpass, waited... waited...
First, I saw these flying things

More flying things! Sundown Sonny made his rounds!

Then it did this! That shaft of bright light wouldn't quit! The day after 9-11, it satisfied my mind.

July 20, 2015 -- Happy Birthday, Grant!

Happy Birthday, Grant! Nice peaceful morning, early, you disrupted us at 2 in the morning, and by 6 a.m. you were here! Only 16 days late, due on the 4th. We had so many family members with names ending in Y, didn't want any more like that. I liked the President on the $50 bill, and of course the actor Cary Grant, and you did become a ham! My... "my"... Name... "name".... Is.... "isssss"..... GraNt..... "GrrraCKKK"! Happy Birthday, Grack. Mom and Dad love you!
Pitiful, in trouble for something, but you recovered on Dad's rocking-horse legs!

Billy was with you through thick and thin, never knew which of you caused the mayhem! Never did understand why you ended up behind the frig.

July 15, 2015 -- Happy Birthday, Fonzie!

We remember it well! We talked about it today, and the blackberry pickin' chigger bites I suffered!
Your dad and I were at Cindy & Larry's on Sunday, waiting for you to happen. G'ma and G'pa Newhouse had gone back to Denver, to work on Monday. We meandered around the park at Lake Springfield, and I slipped and fell on the grass. Nothing happened. Then, Monday morning, July 15, 1968, while folding laundry... such mundane household chores... Fonda Shay did happen! Most beautifullest little girl in the world! Dad picked out your name, you know. Had to have a name to get released from the hospital, or I guess they would be inclined to keep you. We wanted you more than they wanted you!
Happy Birthday, Fonzie. Mom and Dad love you!
Fonda doing her most favorite thing!
She was standing in her daddy's cowboy boots, lovin' it!

July 9, 2015 -- Glub glub glub

Two inches of rain today, one inch poured down in a half hour at 3:30 pm. Then the fog moved in after "sunset", and it rained some more. An interviewee on TV tonight said "This is as worse as it gets". She looked intelligent, but, duh.
The pond is running over, can't see it under the grass on the right. Good thing, because it's almost over the bank. It hasn't been this high in a couple of years.
The summer of 1966 that Allen was in basic and AIT training at Ft. Leonard Wood, it was very dry and hot. Cindy and I weighted a thermometer and dropped it to the bottom of the island pond. When we brought it up, at the surface it was reading over 90 degrees. We've hit 90 maybe once this summer. That will change when the sun shines again, this weekend.

June 28, 2015 -- Almost a monochrome sunset

Almost a monochrome sunset. Thunderstorm approaching from the north this evening, strange direction for incoming weather.
