24 Jan., 2009 -- Blackberry winter

Learned a couple of things today, naturally it had to be the camera function on the new blackberry phone! Not too bad quality, even with the protective plastic covering the lens. I can email the photo to my laptop, don't even have to transfer it with a memory card! It will take a mini sd card, about half the size of a postage stamp. Oh my, another card format... This one stores under the battery, so it's not likely to be removed very often.

It's charging on the usb connection, too. Moving map weather, radar & satellite & forecasts, gps location info, voice recording, video clips (haven't explored that yet).

Sticker shock... 89 dollars???

23 Jan., 2009 -- Airport activity

St. John's Life Line landed for fuel this afternoon.
No, it wasn't my taxi, just a routine fuel stop.
Kicked up lots of winter grass & leaves!

Sandy drove me to Springfield today, and we gabbed all day!
Then she and Matt showed me Steve's taxidermy museum,
with all their hunting trophies. Bass, boars, bears and more!

22 Jan., 2009 -- Felt like spring today

Hey, have you got a green thumb?
Well, yeah, Kathy, uh...
Do you want ... ??? ...
Sure, whadda yagot? Hey, thanks!

Overloaded with poinsettias after the holidays, the receptionist gleefully handed these over. To get the red leaves, these babies will have to go through a few months of "therapy". I'll look it up and report.

For the moment, they are tucked in with the other pots,
thirsting for sunlight in the south window,
waiting for their winter ordeal to end. It will.
Maybe LAD will get to ride his bike then, too!

Glorious sunset, Ben practicing in the Luscombe, and an
outrageously perfect day in January, 61 degrees.

21 Jon., 2009 -- Ooops, no photos

There're only o's on that headline; if only it were Oct. it would be better,
so how about Jonuary.
No photos, hmmm. Home yesterday, bowling last night, no news.
Well, cuz Jody might be related to that Galloway fellow in the Civil War story.

20 Jan., 2009 -- Wilson's Creek Battlefield

This afternoon, I explored the museum at Wilson's Creek Battlefield National Park, something I've wanted to do for a long time.

Charles Galloway... a relative, Jody?

19 Jan., 2009 -- Snowflakes... er, well, snowettes

'Twas "snowing" this morning as I trekked uphill both ways barefoot across the parking lot to the radiology lab.
I should have had the big dog camera instead of the pointnshoot for close-ups.
Here's some "real snow".

Finished a puzzle in the waiting room with the help of a gal from Willow Springs, who knows all our airplane people there. Small world. The picture is proof for some other puzzlers, so they wouldn't think we just got tired and scooped it off to make way for another.

Yeeaaaaa!
Kelly won "The Biggest Loser" at Curves (Jefferson City, MO) for the month of December. She bought this dress a couple of months ago (it was a bit too small at the time). She was determined to wear it at the Winter Sports formal (which will be 1/24/2009). After she won the contest at Curves, they asked her to come and model her dress...

18 Jan., 2009 - Red, white & blue, too

Never get tired of seeing that flag.
(From the side of the road at Fordland,
blurry because of long shutter speed,
the big dog camera.)

Or tired of the sunset, and it's red, white & blue, too.
(On the road, blurry, point
& shoot camera, through the windshield.)

This one is for Sandy. I think this was 1980 something,
my birthday party & the News-Journal Christmas Party.
