16 Nov., 2009 -- Vegas geocaching

Las Vegas Natural History Museum, geocaching. That's an Argentinosaurus. Found a
travel bug up in the container hidden in the structure. I'll bring it to MO and pass it on!

Another geocache, with angels in the container.

Vegas during the day isn't very glamorous.
I copied this image of the Argentinosaurus from somebody else's
geocaching log, it shows the whole animal. I'd love to have this in
our front pasture!

15 Nov., 2009 -- Vegas lights

Dinner at the Golden Nugget downtown. Big ole crawdads, huh? $80 apiece. Nah, I don't think so.
Cousins Billie Lee and Jody. Lived here all their lives, know all the best eating places!

Sis Carolyn played $6 of her $20 in a slot machine, and won $75.
I put 20 of my $20 in a slot, won zip. That's it for the gambling.

Glitz and glitter, and two blocks of an overhead light show. This is the downtown, old part of Vegas. The cowboy's arm at the Pioneer Club used to wave, and the cowgirl wasn't even there when we were kids. The annual Heldorado Parade would move down this street in the afternoon before the rodeo. I have a photo of Roy Rogers on Trigger from way back then!

Las Vegas back yard
An old friend-cousin's back yard. Not much grass to mow. We're off to see the REAL lights of Vegas now!

14 Nov., 2009 -- Las Vegas
Leaving Springfield on Friday afternoon.

Mighty Mississipi, just out of Memphis.

After a trip through the bookstore, Carolyn and Jody and I shopped at Trader Joe's.
Organic stuff, cheap wine, and...

Look out! Grandma Jody's coming through! Hot rodder. She gets that
from her pilot training.

I think this lady (in the center, in white) made a commercial for
setting up a digital converter box on a TV. It's sort of like
finding Maxine!

To Las Vegas
Not on the Wright Flyer, though.
To see my cousin and sister, and maybe get rich. :)

10 Nov., 2009 -- Springfield

I went to an FAA Safety Seminar this evening in Springfield, and
there was a discussion about the new Branson Airport, and safety regarding
its proximity to Harrison and Point Lookout, and the radar coverage, etc.
When I made my airline reservations to Vegas last week, the booking service referred
to Branson as BKG. However, the official FAA identifier is BBG. It seems
that there is an airport on a tiny island out in the Pacific near Hawaii that
already has BBG, so for airline booking purposes, Branson is known as BKG.
I don't know of any other airport that has two identifiers. Huh.

Made a short trip through Bass Pro, there is a lot of remodeling going on inside, getting ready for Christmas, probably. Didn't seem to bother the fishies, nor the ducks or turtles.

Hey, Grant! Here's your street...

9 Nov., 2009 -- Pilot/navigator - headed home
Pilot/navigator, complete with chocolate pudding. Sunday afternoon.

Sunday, Cam and I and Bugs and Taz flew back to Jefferson City, and it was so smooth! Much better than the other two days we went flying. Shucks, Cam had to go back to schoolin'.

Found this during this afternoon's exploring trip with the kitties.
About five feet long!

Hey, isn't this November?
