6 Dec., 2008 -- December color at 1MO

Believe it or not! Found a flower blooming in the little-used driveway out back at the
airport. I did a double-take, retraced my steps and had to hunt for it. Stubborn little brute.

Then, the cloud banks that had prevented my flight today redeemed themselves. Maybe
tomorrow I'll get to Kansas.

5 Dec., 2008 -- Finally got to fly today

Some local places. Recognize them?

Flew to Butler area, south of KC, then to Neosho, then back home.

Got more maps to work on tonight, now to bed, and if it's clear tomorrow, I'm off again,
to OK and KS.

Had a squawk this morning, someone got left out, so I added the other neighbor.

4 Dec., 2008 - Didn't fly today

Have jobs, would travel... however, high clouds and turbulent winds moved in to western Missouri, and so I went bowling instead. Still left handed, doing better. Broke 100. Whoop.

3 Dec., 2008 -- Look who I found

I found Lloyd at Wal-Mart! Well, ...

Thought some flower color would be nice today, since it was cold and blustery
in the hundred acre wood, and nothing was blooming.
(And I hadn't taken any photos today, either!)

2 Dec., 2008 -- Cold and windy

Cold and windy, grabbed a night shot through the car window after senior buffet downtown.

1 Dec., 2008 -- Earthshine

Earthshine. Twice-reflected sunlight. Sunlight is responsible for the slender crescent,
yet the remainder of the moon appears to shine with a dim blush-gray tone. Earthshine is
really sunlight which is reflected off Earth to the moon and then reflected back to Earth.

Venus and Jupiter will next get together again in the morning sky on May 11, 2011. And
ten months later, in March of 2012 they will again pair off in the evening sky right after
sundown. (Information from Space.com)

TV weatherman says it will be 44 years until they converge again with the moon, 2052.

Venus is the bright evening "star" this winter. It's the lower planet in the photo, and
it's rising into the sky.
Jupiter is on the right, it's slowly sinking into the evening sky.
Planets don't twinkle, but maintain steady reflected sunlight, as does the moon.

There will be a test.

30 Nov., 2008 -- We got snow!

Snowed today, so I slowly drove around the deserted square

and shot flash pictures to catch the snowflakes.

The golf course, abandoned to the cold wind.

28 Nov., 2008 -- Friday? it's Friday?

Doesn't seem like Friday.

Edited the church pictures for Jan today. Not much else going on.
Helped Lloyd catch the cats at five o'clock. They don't like going to bed so early. They
get frisky, and play "chase me" games when the sun's going down. Rattle the tin food dish
and they'll give in.
