Taxiing to the north, crossing midfield, runway 08/26, she wasn't in any hurry to clear the active.

I guess the morning half inch of rain encouraged her to come out of hiding.

7 July, 2009 -- Reached in to get a tomato...

Well, I didn't reach in too far for that tomato. Just a garter snake, and right next to the fake snake. Ah, romance...

Flew to Kansas this morning to start the MU corn survey. Battery going down again, so I came back home. 'Twas clouding up, anyhow. No wind, sure was a pretty day to fly!

Waiting for no one... this guy from Florida was headed for the backwoods of Idaho to spend his vacation fishing in the mountain streams.

July 5, 2009 -- Life back to normal

4 July, 2009 -- Fireworks

Shoot for the moon! (composite of four photos, a little "moonwriting").

These were city fireworks.

Neighbors on their pond bank. I couldn't figure out that green thing, it was an out-of-focus blob in some of the pics... a light stick around the kid's neck. I used the 300 mm lens, and had to enlarge quite a bit, they were about 500 feet away. Sort of Halloweenish, I did quite a bit of playing around with the time exposures, and zooming and wiggling the camera, some are straight anchored shots.

July 4, 2009 -- Flying, let's talk about flying

Cub Cadet, about 1940's, in for the class reunion at Mtn. Grove.

Sonny and Wayne, talking about flying. They came out to greet Don before he left for home at Everton. The wind had picked up after a rain shower, and it was a blustery afternoon.


Later, BBQ at the house, fireworks displays all around... City big ones, neighbors little ones... boom boom pop pop sizzle fizzle... Great evening to celebrate being an American with friends!

3 July, 2009 -- Holiday!

Along came John in Blackbart. Then, Don showed up in the Skybolt. He's going to do an aerobatic show for his class reunion on Saturday the 4th.

Yes, I ate it. One day early. Beat the deadline, having ripe tomatoes before July 4th. Oooh, yum!

Volunteer sunflower, from winter birdseed. Only about 8 inches tall, all by itself out back of the house, braving all that construction, ongoing roofing/building project.

2 July, 2009 -- Got one! Got two!

They'll get one, too! Watch out, they're doing the yearly survey of crops, and it ain't corn fields.

Ben and Zack flew twice today, the Sport and the Luscombe. Nice wheel landing. Don't ya just love those squeaks?

1 July, 2009 -- Fly, fly fly

Back to Boonville, pick up passenger, shoot corn fields, then bust clouds.




Josh really enjoyed this flight. He's the son of the guy I took up last week. Josh helps in the ag consulting business by slogging about in the corn fields, checking progress. Big feet, so they have to remove boots to keep from kicking the cameras.

Lloyd's packed and ready to head for Marshall in the motor home. Randy will fly the Ag Husky to Marshall from Iowa, and they will work there for the next few weeks, then move on to the corn in central Iowa.

29 June, 2009 -- 6 hours in the plane

Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri... refueled in Nevada (Missouri). Battery dead. Replaced. Back to the skies, shot a few more quarries, then home.
Six hours in the plane, and it was bumpy.
Ben and Rhonda landed in the Sport about an hour after I got home. His landing was prettier than mine.
